The Wordle Postgame Report is a brief analysis of a past game of Wordle, the five-letter-word guessing game now owned by the New York Times. HARDLY ANYONE SEEMED to have very much fun with Wordle today. I started with ADORE, and it looked like a good start: green on the R, yellow on the O and E. Then OVERT: still yellow on the O and E, now with a yellow T thrown in. I wrote _ _ _ R _ three times in a row on the scratch paper but I never touched two of them; as soon as I penciled in the first one with _ _ _ R O, I saw METRO. Triumph—no. The M was gray. Had to be...let's see...RETRO. Ugh. There it was. Fad word, double letter. Much less attractive than METRO. My answer was better than Wordle's. Morally, I took credit for getting it in three.
