OPENED WITH ASPIC—not the most high-frequency set of letters, but who doesn't love a cool savory jelly? It hit on the P in the middle, in green, and the I in yellow. This was useful. With the S eliminated and the P standing as the third letter, there didn't seem to be any likely three-consonant combinations that would begin or end the word. Two syllables, then. It would need another vowel. Overeager to make up for having left E on the shelf with my first guess, I went for the relatively fusty IMPEL. Was IMPEL a proper Wordle answer? Maybe, but it wasn't today's. INPUT. Better word, and the correct word. Should have gotten there sooner.
